Gundiah

Gundiah comes from the local Aboriginal word "Goondiah" which means farewell or goodbye. This area which extended from Bauple Mountain to the Mary River, was an exit way on an Aboriginal freeway which took travellers to their tribal lands after visiting the Budjilla Tribe, whose territory extended from Bauple Mountain, north to Burrum Heads and includes Fraser Island. Many of the existing roads follow the paths of these freeways which were common land to visitors

The Abduction story according to

Newspaper reports of Police investigations.

On Thursday night, 4th of October 2001, local Amy Rylance was visited by aliens and apparently according to her housemate Petra Hella, an eyewitness, she went floating through the window carried on a beam of light. Her hubby, Mr Rylance, described by the Mayor as a very level headed bloke was also a witness to the circumstances. The fly screen at the window was split open.

Approximately ninety minutes after Petra was found startled by what she just saw in Gundiah, Amy was found disorientated and covered in mud at Mackay Qld. For those who don't know, Mackay is about 790kms from Gundiah as the Crow flies.

Ms Rylance said that she had been abducted for days and when Mackay hospital staff examined her they found that she hadn't eaten for days, and her usually shaved bodily hair had grown considerably.

A policeman said that there could be a rational explanation, in that people often wore alien masks to the Gundy Pub. Checking this out, it appears that the facts behind this theory were, that last Halloween someone walked into the pub wearing an alien mask, and then took it off. This affair is both extraordinary and controversial. Many have rushed to judgement, but given its complex and evolving dynamics, caution and patience is necessary.
