  Glenwood NEWS PDF

The Glenwood Progress Association Inc. meets regularly on the 1st Sunday of each month except January at 3pm and holds it’s AGM on the 1st Sunday in September.

The Association holds a monthly disco from 6pm to 9pm for children up to 15 years of age on the 1st Saturday of each month except for January. Children’s activities are held 2nd, 3rd & 4th Saturdays of each month from 2pm to 5pm with activities such as soccer, football, cricket, netball, volleyball, indoor bowls, pool, board & card games, kite flying, table tennis, and other odd things depending on the weather. It is a requirement of the Association that all members working with or supervising children hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children Blue Card) and these can be obtained through the Volunteer Co-Ordinator of the Association.

Members of the Association also assist other Community Groups such as the Gootchie QCWA & the Lions Club of Glenwood & District Inc. and the Glenwood State School in their fundraising activities as do their members assist us. We truly have a wonderful Community spirit in Glenwood.

The Association produces a free monthly “Glenwood News” which comes out the last weekend of each month where items of interest for the Glenwood Community, items from the Fraser Coast Regional Council, recipes, functions, activities and local business people are promoted. Items for insertion in this can be sent to kerrie_bernie@westnet.com.au or to 24 Sykes Road, Glenwood or put in the “Little
Red Box” at Long’s shop and new items are required by the 20th of each month.

Trivia Nights, Cent Auctions, Tombolas, Christmas Carols, an Easter Fair and the Annual Glenwood Swap Meet, Car & Bike Show & Variety Concert which in 2008 attracted upwards of 170 sites and 4000 people are all held at the Community Grounds in Pepper Road, Glenwood.

The Association maintains and improves the Hall & Grounds (which are leased from the Council) and provides facilities for the residents and visitors of Glenwood to benefit from.
